Sonoe Shimizu

Sonoe joined Purcell in 2014 and has worked on both new build and refurbishment projects of various budget.

She is passionate about historic buildings and enjoys learning about the history of a building whilst attempting to understand how the design and the use have evolved over time. She is particularly experienced in public sector works including museum, education and community projects. She is keen to create accessible space for all, paying special attention to those who face physical challenges as well as those with hidden disabilities.

As an active volunteer in the local community, Sonoe has been involved in creating a new website for her former client, Ancoats Dispensary Trust to unfold its campaign to save grade II listed former Ancoats Hospital. She has also volunteered at a local secondary school giving out food parcels to support footballer Marcus Rashford’s fight to tackle child food poverty.
