Purcell and the City of London Corporation launch Heritage Building Retrofit Toolkit

25 March 2024

The nine-step methodology aims to enable business owners to ‘responsibly retrofit’ historically significant buildings.

The toolkit was launched at Merchant Taylor’s Hall on Threadneedle Street, with speakers including Purcell’s Head of Sustainability Laura Baron in addition to representatives from the City of London Corporation, Historic England, and the Museum of London.

With more than 600 listed buildings in London’s Square Mile, the toolkit aims to provide decarbonisation guidelines for some of the oldest and historically significant buildings in the capital. Under the Corporation’s plans to make the City of London net-zero by 2040, the toolkit will be a valuable resource when facing the sustainability challenges posed by many of London’s listed buildings.
