The Museum is located on Kendall Lane, within The Rocks, Sydney. The built elements comprising The Rocks Discovery Museum (former Coach House) are historically known as Samson’s Cottage and the Raphael and Mckeller Stores. A toilet block (c. 1992) is annexed to the south east corner of the collection.

Purcell were engaged as Heritage Consultants by NSW Public Works Advisory to provide a scope of repair and maintenance works, arising from an inspection of the sandstone wall construction of The Rocks Discovery Museum. In tandem we were requested to provide general observations as to any additional works to other built elements which the asset owner may consider as part of a planned programme of conservation and maintenance works.

A summary of the conditions and actions arising from the site inspection were provided in the report to inform a future program of conservation and maintenance priorities work.
