Further development of the hotel required careful and sensitive consideration to safeguard the integrity of the overall design. The Grove’s conservation and West Wing extension to provide 200 bedrooms and additional function rooms was fully supported by English Heritage following a Call-In by the former Secretary of State, John Prescott. The increased facilities for the highly successful Glasshouse Restaurant and the Events and Golf Clubhouse needed to be naturally integrated while the hotel continued to operate.
The new Cedar Suite and Corporate Golf Lounge augment the established hotel and spa. Sustainably designed and located adjacent to the existing buildings, the oxidised copper and curved glass Cedar Suite overlooks the formal gardens under a living roof whilst the Players Lounge sits within the courtyard of the listed Stables with a double-pitched timber glulam structure. The phased projects ensured continuity of operation, while substantially enhancing the overall quality and range of available facilities at this highly successful, award-winning luxury hotel and spa.
