Administrator (Part Time)


This is an exciting opportunity to provide administration assistance to Purcell’s Cambridge studio on a part-time basis, approx 25 hours per week over 3-4 days, with Monday being a definite working day.

Purcell is an award-winning employee-owned architectural and heritage consultancy practice with a strong commitment to quality. We have staff of approximately 250 talented architects, designers, heritage consultants and surveyors across 14 offices in the UK, Hong Kong and Australia. Together, we work on some of the finest buildings from meticulous heritage and conservation schemes to bold contemporary design.

This is an interesting and challenging temporary role (maternity cover) that would suit a confident, numerate and professional individual who enjoys using their initiative and who has a ‘can do’ working style.

The role covers a wide remit of all aspects of office and project administration. The role requires an excellent all-round understanding of business processes and the ability to be adaptable and collaborative with excellent multitasking, communication and organisational skills.

• Provide support to and work alongside Senior Administrators within the East Region

• Provide administration support to maintain data in our Project Management System (Rapport)

• Document production for the region (Reports, certificates, letters, minutes etc.)

• Assistance with procurement for the region (stationery etc)

• Assistance with call handling for the practice

• Assistance with maintaining H&S records for the region and assistance with facilities management for the 3 studios within the region

• Credit card reconciliation

• Coordinating monthly staff meeting presentations for the 3 studios.

• Carry out adhoc administrative tasks for the region

• Assistance with travel and accommodation bookings


• Experience in a similar role in an office environment

• Professional approach and a “can do” attitude, flexible and adaptable.

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment is essential.

• Proven experience in Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Advanced Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) – Intermediate/Advanced

• Experience with dealing with people at all levels (internally and externally)

• Very high standards of accuracy and presentation

• Willingness to learn and utilise new systems

• Good with numbers and mathematically competent

• Co-operative and collaborative team member

• Able to work proactively on own initiative and prioritise workload.

• Enthusiasm for developing work skills and job specific knowledge for self and team

• Attention to detail

• Able to turn hand to just about anything and must enjoy challenges
