Purcell joins partnership to deliver regeneration programme across South East Essex

13 October 2020

Over the past 12 months, Purcell have worked closely with GBPartnerships through a competitive tender and dialogue process to secure Rochford District Council’s regeneration programme.

The partnership, which has recently been granted approval, utilises Purcell’s diverse expertise in masterplanning, architecture and heritage consultancy to transform a range of historic sites across South East Essex.

The programme will not only regenerate the buildings and enhance and preserve their architectural heritage, but in doing so boost the local economy and revitalise the surrounding area.

We’re thrilled that the development partnership has been granted approval. The Council’s Asset Delivery Programme provides a great opportunity to develop a long-term relationship with both Rochford District Council and GBPartnerships that will see a collaborative approach to the design and delivery of high quality, sensitive, community-led regeneration projects.

— Peter Buist, Regional Partner

The granted approval follows a period of careful analysis of Council-owned buildings ensuring that they are put to best use. In collaboration with GBPartnerships, our sensitive proposals will secure sustainable futures for six historic buildings and sites across Rochford and Rayleigh.

The project will engage with local residents, businesses and community groups. Once complete, the revitalised buildings will be flexible spaces - designed to accommodate changes to needs and priorities ensuring their sustainable long-term future.

We are delighted to be working with Rochford District Council as their Development Partner and helping to deliver on the shared vision. Together with our local supply chain Purcell Architects and Kier Construction, we will deliver a lasting legacy for the district and create sustainable change, whilst boosting local employment at a particularly critical time.
