National Portrait Gallery Proposals Secure Planning Permission

26 April 2019

We are delighted to announce that the proposals for the redevelopment of the National Portrait Gallery have secured full planning approval.

An exciting collaboration with Jamie Fobert Architects, we won an international open design competition after the National Portrait Gallery set out to source a design team to transform and renew the Gallery. The brief was to open up the Gallery, to make the Collection more accessible and welcoming and to bring the buildings, technical and managerial infrastructure of the Gallery to the highest standards.

The Inspiring People project will involve creating a new entrance on the building’s north façade to improve visibility and accessibility as well as restoring historical features, reinterpreting and upgrading the galleries, and creating a new Learning Centre to transform visitors’ experience.
