Action on Empty homes: our London and Canterbury studios’ charity of the year

5 March 2021

It's great to have valuable support in 2021 from a practice so committed to the sustainable re-use of buildings.

— Will McMahon, Director of Action on Empty Homes

Purcell’s London and Canterbury studios’ charity of the year is Action on Empty Homes, an association dedicated to campaigning for the UK’s empty homes to be used by people in need of housing.

The charity’s work consists of developing and researching ideas for bringing long-term empty homes back into use for those in need, providing guidance for those seeking to bring empty homes back into use, while raising awareness of the waste of empty buildings. Action of Empty homes supports local communities in transforming their neighbourhoods, and campaigns on both a local and national level.

Through the hard work in the past years, they have achieved significant results nationwide and, given they are a relatively small organization relying on donations, our support will greatly help their current projects to be further developed, also creating more opportunities for collaborations and networking.

Our teams look forward to supporting the charity throughout the year; from raising money with ‘virtual’ baking competitions, to supporting Action on Empty Home’s initiatives to build a long-standing relationship with the charity.
