Joyce Christie
Senior Architect, BSc (Hons) Arch PGDip Arch PGDip CHE RIBA IHBC
A hands-on architect, Joyce is experienced at running challenging projects from inception to completion. Understanding the history of a building and researching construction techniques are both of particular interest. She enjoys strengthening her existing knowledge through reading and open discussion with clients, the design team and craftsmen, while encouraging younger members of staff to develop their own knowledge and skills.
Joyce works across a wide range of schemes including abbeys, churches, cathedrals, castles, art galleries, museums, offices, housing and retail projects. Her particular interest lies in ecclesiastical architecture, an area in which she has specialised for over 12 years. She is therefore sensitive to the challenges facing church buildings and is aware of their evolving purpose, particularly as regards community use. She is also a consultant for the Churches Conservation Trust.
