The new building was seamlessly integrated into its historic surroundings using carefully chosen local materials including stone, slate and thatch.

Great care was taken over every aspect of the design, down to the smallest fixtures and fittings, to create inspiring, serene interiors. Historical estate artefacts have also been reused.

Extensive services were needed to meet the requirements of the luxury hotel. They are concealed in uncluttered, welcoming spaces to avoid detracting from the high standards of the interiors.

A wide range of other environmental measures are incorporated within the design, including low energy lighting throughout the hotel and an ozone-treated swimming pool.

The range of suites includes vaulted bedrooms into the roof forms as well as bespoke interiors with estate references. Views overlook the entrance courtyard walled garden or the expansive deer park.

The 84-seat restaurant was conceived as an orangery linking the new hotel to one of the listed tithe barns. The barn is used as a kitchen for the adjoining conference and golf facilities.

The contemporary reception desk contrasts with historical artefacts and estate maps on the walls.
